EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State University has started a two-phase makeover of the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, the campus hotel in East Lansing that hosts conferences, weddings and visiting fans.
The first phase began Sept. 28 and focuses on the porte-cochere, the covered drive at the front door. Crews are putting on a new roof and downspouts and hanging new signs that match current university design standards.
Drivers and walkers should plan around the work. The sidewalk and main entrance will close at times, while the parking garage entrance stays open. The university asks people to avoid Harrison Road near the building when they can. The center lists Dec. 21 as the expected finish for the exterior work.
Phase two moves indoors, with updates to the State Room restaurant, the lobby and some meeting rooms. That work is slated to wrap up in fall 2027. Overnight guests can book any of 160 rooms and suites there, and planners have over 35,000 square feet for events. The university has not said what the project will cost.
