LANSING, Mich. — Students at Lansing Community College now have a path into three health care programs the school does not offer, under six new agreements with Mott Community College in Flint that also open three LCC programs to Mott students.
The two colleges finalized the articulation agreements in September. LCC students can take their prerequisite classes in Lansing and then apply to Mott’s programs for physical therapist assistants, occupational therapy assistants and respiratory therapy. Mott students, in turn, gain a shot at three LCC tracks: diagnostic medical sonography, plus surgical and radiologic technology.
LCC has posted all six pacts on its transfer agreements page, where each Mott program is matched to the general education courses an LCC student needs first. The arrangement does not guarantee a seat, since every program keeps its own selective admission standards.
Students who finish prerequisites at their home school pay that school’s in-district tuition, and the deals are meant to keep credits from being lost in a transfer. Because the colleges share many clinical sites and employer partners, some students admitted at the partner school may be able to do clinical work nearer to home. The colleges plan a formal signing event on Dec. 16.
