LANSING, Mich. — Halloween week in Lansing comes with plenty of chances to hear a ghost story, from lantern-lit walks past downtown landmarks to tours of a historic house dressed up for the season.
The Turner-Dodge House and Heritage Center is running Halloweek tours from 1 to 7 p.m. today through Thursday, Oct. 29. A guided tour costs $10 and a self-guided visit is $5, with children 12 and younger admitted free and no registration needed.
Downtown, a lantern ghost walk run by US Ghost Adventures heads out at 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, with tickets between $17 and $26. The hourlong route takes in spots tied to Lansing lore, including the State Capitol and the Rotary Steam Clock, which stands where the deadly Kerns Hotel fire once happened.
In East Lansing, the Michigan State University Campus Archaeology Program teams with student paranormal and anthropology groups for its free Apparitions and Archaeology walk at 6 p.m. Wednesday. It starts at Beaumont Tower and mixes campus history with spooky tales; the tradition began in 2014.
The university also plans a free Halloween carillon concert with projected animation on Beaumont Tower at 8 p.m. Thursday.
