DETROIT, Mich. — Polymarket US has agreed to stop selling new sports event contracts to people in Michigan, the fourth prediction-market company to stand down under pressure from state gaming regulators and the attorney general this year.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board said the company, formally QCX LLC, will also wind down any positions Michigan customers still hold. Contracts that users have not closed on their own by the end of the day on Nov. 25 will be closed by the company.

The deal takes the form of a stipulation approved by the federal court for the Western District of Michigan. As long as Polymarket follows it, the state has promised not to bring an enforcement action.

The company had gone to court first. It sued state officials in March, arguing Michigan could not apply its gaming laws to its products. A federal judge turned down a temporary restraining order that month and refused a preliminary injunction in June, ruling that the sports products did not meet the legal definition of a swap and that gambling oversight sits squarely within state authority. The company has asked the Sixth Circuit in Cincinnati to overturn that decision, and the case is still open.

The attorney general’s office warned the company on Sept. 10 that it would sue unless the sports contracts came down.

Michigan has now forced the same retreat from Kalshi, Robinhood, Coinbase and Polymarket. The Coinbase and Robinhood matters ended in similar agreements, while Kalshi was ordered by an Ingham County judge to stop offering sports-style wagers after Attorney General Dana Nessel sued it in March.

State regulators say anyone who takes sports wagers from Michigan residents, including through a phone app, needs a Michigan license. Licensed sportsbooks remain available to bettors in the state.
