LANSING, Mich. — In Lansing, road commissioners gave final backing Thursday to MDOT’s finished 2027-2031 schedule, clearing a project list that must be filed with lawmakers and budget offices by March 1, 2027.

The package inventories upcoming jobs on trunkline highways, bridges and related facilities, and it also sketches spending for transit, rail and aviation. Draft comments were taken from July 31 to Aug. 31 before the vote.

Combined state and federal dollars in the outlook total about $19.4 billion. Roughly $13.7 billion targets highway fixes, including more than $130 million linked to the governor’s $3.5 billion Rebuilding Michigan push.

About $5.7 billion is set aside for multimodal programs. Transit modes spanning bus service, marine routes, rail lines and ports make up nearly $4.8 billion, and aviation is listed at $906 million, with county project lists and impact notes attached.

After the capital-city vote, MDOT posts the file and sends it to the Legislature, the budget office, and both chamber fiscal staffs. Readers can open the full program at Michigan.gov/MDOT5YearProgram.
