LOCKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 53-year-old man from Fowlerville was killed Thursday when three vehicles collided in Locke Township, where Sherwood Road meets M-52 in the far eastern corner of Ingham County, the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were sent to the intersection around noon. Investigators said the Fowlerville driver was traveling east on Sherwood and trying to cross the state highway when a 24-year-old Bancroft man behind the wheel of another car slammed into him. The impact pushed his car into a third vehicle, which a 71-year-old Lapeer woman was driving.

The Fowlerville man was pronounced dead at the crash site. His name had not been made public as of Friday. A 26-year-old Perry resident was riding with the Bancroft driver, and everyone else hurt in the wreck went to area hospitals with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

M-52, also known as Perry Road in that stretch, stayed closed for roughly four hours and reopened by 4 p.m. The Ingham Regional Crash Investigation Team worked the scene alongside sheriff’s deputies.

The sheriff’s office is asking witnesses or anyone with details about the crash to reach Deputy Stalzer at 517-676-8444, extension 1939.
